Event Funding

In connection with the publication of the Crossing Borders works, it is possible to apply for funding for the presentation of these works in the form of public events. The events should appeal to a broad public, stimulate discussion, and awaken a greater understanding of other cultures.

Since the introduction of the supporting events in 2005, various events have taken place both in Germany and abroad, thereby also bringing the themes and issues researched in situ back into the respective countries, enabling an exchange of different perspectives. Examples of events that have been funded are readings, film screenings and audio plays at literary institutes, at festivals, in libraries, at universities, schools and cultural centers. In cooperation with the culture channel ARTE, readings by Border Crossers take place at the two German book fairs in Frankfurt and Leipzig.

Application

The Robert Bosch Stiftung funds the presentation of Border Crossers works at various kinds of public events. It is expected that the organizing body applies for the financial support itself, in addition to providing own funding. An organizer may be any of the following: associations, cultural facilities, literature centers, libraries, universities. Before making the specific grant request, the organizer should coordinate with the author (for example, on the location, date, and format of the event). Prior to the event, we would be pleased to offer a telephone consultation regarding organizational questions as well as author referrals.

Travel, accommodation and meal expenses for the authors or presenters may be applied for. Additional funds and/or non-monetary benefits such as room rental, public relations and the support of the authors must be included by the requesting institution.
